Wool (hand dyed wool yarn, knit and felted)
6 x 5 x 10 in.
There is an educational trend to allow children to spell phonetically in the early stages of their introduction to the written word. The separation experienced in moving from an image-based world to one ordered by lexicons calls for comforting.

Locally sourced fiber was milled, hand dyed, and hand knit.

As a process, knitting presents the beginning, middle, and end at once. The first and last stitches are received simultaneously. It is analog. Each stitch marks a unit of time, but the beginning and end are concurrent: past is present.
